Alexis Basson Consulting was founded in 2003 and specializes in the forensic investigation and reconstruction of mechanical failures and fires primarily for the insurance, automotive, mining and marine industries.
 Forensic Investigations:
This usually involves machinery (i.e. commercial vehicles, cars, agricultural equipment,
static and mobile mining equipment, and marine vessels).
The output:
A technical report which may be used in a Court of Law for criminal prosecution, or civil litigation (largely for liability / recovery purposes). Reports are also utilized as part of expert witness testimony in Court Cases. The reports typically include reliable conclusions and technical/operational/safety recommendations which can be utilized to minimize similar losses.
Fire Risk Assessments on Machinery & Plants
Identification of possible failure modes which can cause a fire. Quantitive evaluation of fire risks. Mapping & Identifaction of fire risk areas. Recommendations on fire detection & fire suppression for various risk areas considering the working environment. Guidance to good practise on installation of after-market equipment such as fire
detection/suppression systems and electrical equipment.
